Default 1770 Is More Than A Number

Evening all,
Going to be out of touch with the world from Saturday on for a week or so. A chat board that I belong to down here has organized a Meet & Greet at 1770. What is 1770?
town of 1770 queensland australia
Click on the link.
Great little town that has not been stuffed......yet. But this market shakeout will flush the people who have 110% loans on their holiday shacks into the open. Could be some good deals.
Southern end of the Barrier Reef is offshore. Thousands of patches of reef everywhere between land & the Reef itself.
Terrific fishing & crabbing. Reef fish, mackeral (Kingfish), Hoo, they are all here. 15 to 20 boats are going up. Many are alloy so I will try to get some group pics. Only problem is the weather. If it blows, it is not good.
If it does not.....................................well, we shall see.
Regards,

Pete in Brisbane

Have a good one. Sounds awesome, but then again, the entire continent sounds pretty good to me...

G'Day all,
Made it from 1770 but forget to put up some pics.
We had about 40 people with 15 boats at the M&G, less than expected but stuff happens. The weather did not co-operate. The big fan in the sky was working overtime which restricted fishing & consequently catch size.

Hooked up ready to leave Brisbane. It was raining. Never a good omen before a 400 mile tow.

The house we stayed in with our yellow website banner on the railing.

The view from the deck. I left the rods there all week. It is a very safe little town.

An alloy walk-around from above.

Pancake Creek. A very secure anchorage but you need plenty of bug spray at dusk.

Murf releasing a tern that swooped on a slug. Check the birds working in the background.

Murf on.

What was feeding on the bait the birds were eating. Mack tuna about 12 pounds. Not a good table fish but an excellent bait for bottom dwellers.

Kill tank. Keeps the blood off the decks.

The big guy on the right had a Bertram to which we rafted up in a coral lagoon some 30 miles out. We were going to fish the reef dropoffs in 300 foot that night but made a bad call & decided to party.

"Bad Eye" coming alongside. Another alloy boat with an interesting name.

Glassed out the next day. No run, no fun. But with a major front coming through we would not be able to spend another night offshore. The Furuno was lit up but the fish were not biting.

After the change. Serious rain & wind to 40 knots. We got a few reef fish but nothing to brag about. I am going back in early December to try again.
