Default Sea Witch/Ilanders

I love Ilanders ($20.) but I hate cut offs when using mono. I modified some ($2.) Sea Witches to look a little like Ilanders ... gonna give'em a shot, they may work.

Nice job Red. Maybe we should sign you on and produce some for us!

BTW.... Your cost thru us on Ilander IL400 & IL450 is $15.71 rather then $20

That's why I buy mine from you Jeff, all the top retailers have them for $19.99. I'll always have a few on hand because they work so well for me.

good deal, haven't tried using the crimped hair yet but I make all mine as well. Usually when I start getting the fever in february I crank em out.

August is my down month, I'm not coming out of the A/C for a few more weeks. February 's not bad in the northern gulf, big wahoo /yellowfin come in close in the winter. What type skirt material are you using?

I think it's just the nylon hair non crimped. They have crystal now instead of just plain white and man that stuff lights up. I normally use heads like yours and occasionally spray paint them a chrome color. You can also buy heads that look almost identical to an illander head and then tie your own hair onto it. Haven't messed with this too much but I want to start trying. I have also been adding my own mylar to it these past couple of years. You can get that stuff here.

Home "draggin eyes site"

Products "carolina lures site"

Some people like it, but I would suggest getting rid of that excess hair on the inside, no need for it, and depending on the length some think it may affect hook up ratio.

I can see their point for cutting the inner skirt on an Ilander with the bill of a ballyhoo going into a 3/8 hole, 1 1/4 depth with the hook piont in thick hair. Don't think there'll be a problem with a Sea Witch, (no hole) point of the hook stays well beyond the inside hair.

I rig some Ilanders with tandem hooks for tail cutting Wahoo.

No doubt you guys will.

With the amount of equipment and tackle Red & you have the fish should be very scarred.
