Red, you looking for daytime or in general?
I know Captain Eddie has caught his fair share. Maybe he'll chime in.

He's been doing pretty good at night along with the Peace boats but I'd like to try the daytime.

Hey Fred,
Help an old man out and point me in the right direction for daytime Swords and rigging ... I'm probably not looking in the right places on the site.

This one did catch my eye though.

Hi Red, go to the forum link below and check it and the "sub forumns" listed just above the various threads. It is worth signing up to the site with a username etc. and then searching that particular forum for any particulars you are looking for. They have seeveral threads on deep dropping during the day. You need to kind of weed through to find the good info but it is there. I spent a lot of time reading that stuff last winter.

Capt. Fred,

Use 11/0 Jobo black hooks in tandem in a large squid, dip in red food dye, on 300# mono and 12'-20' leader, set them at 75', 125', 250' with glow sticks and strobe lights, and hang on... Hydroglow lights under the boat, one blue one green, chunk some butter fish if up in the northeast.

I tried a set of large circle hooks and lost a really big sword last season...no more circles, just JOBO's!

Good luck. Swordfish central has great info, also articles in Big Game Fishing Journal, 800-827-4468 call Len Balcaro and ask him to send you past issues that have sword info in them. then subscribe.

THese aren't monsters but they ate well and fought their ass off.marty

1st sword

2nd sword last year

Thanks Fred,

Seems the weights will vary greatly for different areas, some of the FL boys say they're dragging 30 lbs to keep it down in their currents.
The northern gulf is not that bad .... I'll just have to experiment (trial /error)

Oops ......missed you Stephen ..... I'll take'em anyway I can get'em.
