Default Nearshore suggestions out of Oregon Inlet

My brother thinks my nephews are ready to fish out of Oregon Inlet. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Greg

I just returned yesterday and the blue and spanish bit was on just outside the inlet trolling spoons a few hundered yards of the beach. On the windy days there where 20 boats trolling and all catching.

I fished Thursday morning with my seven year old son. We hit the inlet soon after 7:00 am. We headed out the inlet with hopes of spanish mackeral. We noticed all of the boats were north of the inlet. We fished pretty close to the water tower and slammed the spanish, caught eight bonito and three bluefish. We caught all of the fish on clark spoons and small planers. All of our fish came from 18 to 25 feet, but the charters were venturing very close in . . . too close for me. We came in about 11:30 am, and we were still catching them when we left. However, my son was beat. For what it is worth, I try to troll a little faster than some folks just to stay free of the bluefish. Of course, if I were trying to just catch any type of fish, I would slow down some for the bluefish.

Great report, have any photos of your son with his catch? I'd love to post'em on my site. Thanks, Jeff

Don't forget the eel's and spade fish rigs. We hit the northern tower (forgive me if I get this number wrong 65) and there where lots of small cobia and propobly a hundered spade fish, we where the only boat there.
