Default Raymarine DSM300 "Watchdog Timeout Reboot" warning

Based on the manual, eight amber flashes means "Watchdog Timeout Reboot" and clears itself after 10 minutes. Sounder is reading fine and I never would've know there was an issue if I hadn't gone in to check all the connections and re-apply corrosion inhibitor. Restarting the DSM through the C80 menu also clears the warning but it's consistently there on startup of the unit.

Does anyone know what this warning means?

If Glen has no clue you may want to contact Mike @ http://swflnavigation.com/ or Southshore Marine Service on this site.

Good grief Fernando. 6 months! Maybe they are hand making it out of walrus tusk and the dog sled got stranded due to global warming. Yeah that's it. Winter's coming, shouldn't be long now.

Didn't think the answer would be this elusive... Sent the question to RM and as luck would have it they're closed until January 2. I'll report their response.

Whats up with your pilot? Never had the problem with the dsm300 so I cannot answer that one.

Default good clean voltage...

well... i've ran into a few raymarine problems, all due to installation...it's real important these units have a good power as well as ground source...i reccomend a dedicated buss for both the ground and the power...it's an excellent idea to install a seperated and dedicated power system in the boat, that meaning, the engine batterieis fire just the engines and the 12v system battery fires just the 12v system...this avoids a low voltage situation...all this little stuff matters...if you're feeding the electronics through a common power wire, meaning,it's power is coming off a buss bar, that feeds other circuits, the wire that buss bar may not be flowing enough power to keep everything going,it's kinda like a garden hose supplying water to your house...the same is true for the ground....you may wanna check into all this....
for what it's worth, the raymarine c as well as the e series sets are my choice, hands down the best,in my opinion...the c series with the dsm, gives the absolute best definition screen for a fish finder i have ever seen...

Thanks for the input Jim. I'm familiar with the low voltage issues on the DSM300's and have a #6 + and - wire powering nothing but my electronics. The electronics consist of twin C80's, DSM300, 4kw open array radar, VHF, RS125 GPS antenna and TR-1 Autopilot. The run has a total of 14' of cable (7' there and 7' back to the battery bank). Conservatively this cable size and distance is good for 50A+ continuous at 3% voltage drop or less.

The battery bank consists of 2 group 27 batteries paralleled that are charged while running via Bluesea ACR's, one from each start battery. My start batteries are completely isolated and the rest of my house load is fed separately from the house bank. When at the dock all battery banks are charged from a 3 bank smart charger.

Raymarine said as long as it clears itself I'll be fine. Not satisfied with this answer but I'll keep an eye on it...
