Default Speaking of screens

WHat's the best way to clean your gps screen, I've got a garmin 178c and the screen has got a layer of gunk in spots, you know sunscreen, sweaty finger marks, salt spray and the like, what do you guys use?

computer screen cleaner and a microfiber towel....get it at radio shack....put a navprotector.com film on it and never have to worry about cleaning it again...with a screen film you can use a broom if you want....

Products with ammonia seem to be very tough on anti-reflective coatings. I like Glen's solution.

Mine became very spotted and difficult to read (after five years in an open cockpit). I finally used window cleaner to remove the remains of the anti-glare coating. It's far easier to read now.

I suppose I should buy a third party film for it but it may be going back to the manufacturer eventually because there's a 1/2" diameter black spot in the upper right hand corner.

What's hard to figure out is that this spot changes size and shape from day to day. So far, it's not in the way of anything and according to their website, flat rate repairs are $175.

I did what rwidman did... much easier to read. My gps is enclosed in the helm's electronic box though.
