YouTube - Outer Banks Beach Fishing

If you follow the above link it will take you to a video someone took yesterday of the operation. I found this on another site earlier. It looks like the fish are there and I hope they hang around for a couple of weeks so I can try to bring in a few of those myself.

BTW - I'm new to the site and it looks like a lot of good info here.

Thanks,

DRush

Thats a great video,he is a good friend of mine, he had the catch of a lifetime..No fish where wasted, in his catch. They where split up among license holders and the weight went to our approxamently 500,000 pound quota... Which was more than likely NOT met..this was taken Tuesday, Wednesday he caught no fish at all....(hero to zero) overnite... Thursday he caught 2 fish.... I was able to sell 50 fish for the 3 day season this past week...So this video is kinda misleading....Many nets had nothing in them...

That would be sweet, BUT he fished 9 days. He was only allowed to keep 50 fish out of his net,he gave the rest away to other fisherman. I'm sure he made a lot of new friends..This was the third 3 day season, due to the warm waters, the rock stayed up north in Va. The first 6 days only 10,000 pounds of fish where caught in the entire state... Not many fish at all..so they open it for 3 more days to try and reach the quota... I doubt the poundage was reached in the past 3 days..It's a shame the state makes us fish in this manner... All the fish hit the market at the same time and the price bottoms out...Due to a slow Fall crabbing season many people where on the beach, this is what the state of North Carolina has created.. Not many fisherman want to work in this mannner, but be have too...I know the rec guys think this happens everyday and we kill millions of fish, thats FAR from the truth. We get less than 500,000 pounds of Commercial Quota for Rock. All our poundage is documented from day to day, and supposed to be accurate...(if the State does their job). The rec. landings are estamated at 5.5 million pounds(thats what I've been told)... So in reality we only get a small part of the pie....When all is said and done we "ALL" kill fish.....That the Game....lets all have fun, Gene

Also, that's not three days work, more like 2 months work with the prep involved!

Those dory's and net's are NOT things that you can go buy at West Marine the night before you go fishing. ALSO, Many nets had nothing but Dogsharks and Skate's in them, so don't fret about the Rec quota this year. The rock are here this year, it's only going to get better...

Gene, glad you guys got em, and glad you left a few for us Rec guys all the same.

Gonna try again sometime the next few weeks up the beach, but hope you made out in the interim.
