Default Would y'all bring the boat??

My girlfriend's family has a place in Duck for the week and I'm thinking about fishing tomorrow here in VA with my dad and then hauling the boat down NC way for a party with some family friends in Gates County tomorrow night, then make the haul from Gates to Duck and stay around there till Sunday. Forecast seems iffy...winds don't seem terrible (15-20 some days, 10-15 others) but 3-4 seas in the winter has the potential to be uncomfortable at best.

Would y'all bring the boat or just enjoy the company of future inlaws from land for 4 days?

I'm leaning toward bringing it because I'd much rather have it down there and get blown out for 4 days than leave it home and watch flat calm seas from the balcony while trying the drown out the future mother-in-law since I left the boat in VA.

If I drag the boat down, I'd be glad to have NC folks on board for a day of fishing if it presents itself.

Like you say, better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it. As long as you think those folks would like getting out I'd do it.

Bring the boat.. Weather looks iffy, but this only Thursday AM and it can change. You may want to consider a scouting mission in the Sound. Might be some bird activity up towards Colington/Mashoes....
I am returning to the Beach this PM.
Regards and Good Luck!

Left it at home...me and dad went out yesterday and when I first dropped it, it was running rough (which I attributed to it being cold and having not been run in a few days) then it ran fine the rest of the day, so I was fine...got back to the dock and the MAN was there checking fish, which was fine with us since we caught one rock and threw it back because it was barely legal and barely legal isn't my favorite fish to keep. Anyhow, when he walked down the dock, I cut the boat off and when he was leaving I attempted to crank it back up and just got a single crank as if the starter was stuck...did this three time and then fired off just fine. Then pulling the trailer back up the ramp it was making some awful squeaking noises, so rather than risk having the boat break down, or the trailer lose a wheel/hub on the way down, I just left it home.

Short version: Boat's at home, but I brought 2 fishing rods and some shad bodies and buck tails, so where might a find some rock from shore? I'm staying just north of Duck...or really right in Duck...and on the ocean.

Who can sneak me onto the research pier? I feel like I can catch em off the end

Dave: Tell Berry that passing is passing...once I got the math classes behind me the only things that gave me trouble were Statics and Deforms. As a matter of fact, I've just been putting Deforms off since I don't have to have it for anything in particular except graduation. Heck, I might end up taking it with Berry

Ryan,

Let me know what your plans are. I'm not sure yet, I was planning to head to SC for New Years with my wife and my best friends but not sure that is going to happen as my wife's uncle has just taken a turn for the worst and were not sure how much longer he has.

So we are planning on staying on the banks for a few days then either leaving to head to SC tomorrow or MD, not really sure yet. We might just can the whole trip to SC & hang tight here on the banks for a few days.

So long store short, if you are doing anything exciting let us know!

...I think I'm going to drink beer and take pictures with the camera I got for Christmas. This place has a pool table, so I brought my cue, but it turns out the pool table is an outdoor table that uses astroturf for felt...so I think me and the little lady might go out in search of a pool table and a beer one of these nights. Thats the plan so far. Might drive down the OI and try to catch a fish either from the beach or around the fishing center one of these days. In general I don't really have any plans, so feel free to call or PM...or just drive to the end of Marlin Dr. and look for the big black Suburban...
