Default Offshore Saturday August 6th

Made plans to fish offshore on the Tag N Stick Saturday because of the pending weather with Dave and my son. My son was down on Friday for work and observed lots of white water on the bar. Tide was going out Saturday morning and had to bring boat down to idle to cross bar. The fleet had caught some billfish in 30 fathoms between 700 and 800 on Friday, so it was a short run out. Set out within site of the 102 tower with the fleet and started fishing. It was slow going early on with one bite on a long shotgun bait, but no hookup. At approx 10:45 we started lunch. After ordering my hotdoig, I looked back and there is whitey coming to flat line. Drop back circle hook rig, hook up, and catch the fish. Set back out and 10 min later next whitey comes on other flat line. My son hooks that on circle hook and catches that fish. Caught several bonita in afternoon, but no more marlin for the day. Quick ride home from the 780, 25 fathoms.

Saw yall caught a couple. That's where we were headed but the wind was a little stiff for us when we woke up. Heard it actually wasn't that bad once you got out there, but we chose flounder fishing instead.

Although we caught the 2 whites, It was a long day dragging around in that pukey shallow water! No life in the water, grass, etc. and no meat bites!
regards,
dw

We won't be going this weekend, unless plans change. May fish the following weekend on 20th or 21st, hoping for nice weather. And then on the Pelican on Monday Aug 22nd.

It was a process getting out there. We were going to take my skiff and after almost getting to wanchese, decided it may be better to hop in the bigger boat with the storms. Transferred everything and headed that way with only enough time to fish for about an hour with the storms heading in. Caught 14 flounder, a couple blues and croaker, and some trash fish. A couple of flounder were right on the line but we didn't keep any.

Alex, It always happens; weather good, seas calm, fish biting..and I am once again stuck in Richmond! Maybe but I doubt it! Hoping to get back out on my boat soon. Good Luck in the Alice Kelly! Are you on the Hunter?
Good work on the flounder..

Nope not on the Hunter, we may enter it on the Regulator just for kicks. We thought about chartering the Hunter for the Va Beach tournament but it's just too much for right now.
