Default Hatteras Marlin fishing

or lack thereof....Took TagNStick to Teaches Liar Saturday. On Sunday we pounded the 280 rocks area and caught 2 gaffers and had a blue marlin hit hard but no hook-up....Monday we went south and started at the 900 line,100 fathoms, and found a big weed line with big pods of sargasum . Not a lot of action for the size of the line but all day managed 12 gaffers and a white marlin in the baits bit no hook...Tuesday started at the 000's, 100 fathoms, and fished in/out and a north bend...Slow going with 2 gaffers. wind shifted to the nw with a 3-4 seas so I thought it might stir things up but no..
Over the holiday week-end there were lots of dolphin in 20 fathoms.
Laying in today and will fish Thursday and Friday..our target is blue marlin but everything is slow..Nice mahi for dinner.. Weather looks good for the coming week-end.
Good Luck!

Can't catch 'em at the dock! That hook-up will be worth it!

Final report from the week in Hatteras. We did not fish Thursday, because the wind breezed up overnight and reports indicated it was choppy offshore. We staged a marina tournament and my son won with 7 fish in 1.5 hrs of fishing. Friday we went to the Rockpile and had no bites there. Saw two large sharks, one of which was a Tiger shark. We trolled S/SE down to the 950 and caught a nice Blue Marlin, that we estimated to weigh 400+. The pictures stunk, because we could not locate a camera and shot some on the cell phone. Also, got hit by gaffers several times along the way. Friday we started at triple 0's and worked SE. Heard there was a White Marlin bite in the area, so we joined that fleet and finished the day with 2 out of 4 White Marlin bites. Also, caught some gaffers.
