Glad yall saw one. We fished Saturday only and headed to the 275. Got to about 18 fathoms and heard a thump on the T-top. Take a look and the weld on the mount to the open array radar had failed. Radar was lying on it's side being held by only wires. Lost a the Navnet unit that the radar was synced with. Swapped chips to the other Navnet, cut wires to the radar, tossed the open array into the console, and we were back on our way. Some nonskid on the hardtop would have been nice in those seas! My buddy thought the Regulator could stay behind the house the rest of summer with the new bottom paint, but back to Wanchese...
Hung around the 260-330 most of the day as the boats that kept heading north referred to shaggin grass like bailing hay it was so thick. Pulled nothing but big plastic all day and didn't see a blue one. Grass tended to be worse inside so we stayed out towards 1000 fathoms for a good bit of the day. Still caught a handful of gaffers in the morning on plugs. Finished up at around the 450, took a swim in the warm water, and headed back in.
