Fished the point around the change 64 deg to 73 deg. about 2.5 - 3knt current. It was Mako madness, we probabaly had ten bites. Pulled off 4, got cut on 4, released 1 sub-legal and missed 1 or 2. We could not get one to stick on the wire rigs, pulled 3 off with wire. We had a keeper or two on, got some good visuals and great strikes. The action died about 11am and no meat to show, it must have been tough to be a little fish in that neighborhood. Hope you had better luck Chris.

Mark,

My bro and I were scheduled to head out sunday.. but at the last minute i had all my crew decide not to go.. so i can't fish alone and was pretty pissed off.. so i can't give a report..except that the OI fleet had some nice dolphin caught on Sunday from what i see.. so hopefully the weather will be nice and allow us to go this coming weekend

Mark and Seth,

Yep, crew issues..Suffice it to say that that crew-member won't be invited again...finding crew is always the hard part. But it's better to hold off and go when everyone's fresh as opposed to a last minute weather window, especially when we're talking $4.00/gallon gas. We'll catch 'em up next weekend...

Sorry about the Mako's..I know you guys switched to wire on some lures, was it a straight JB to barrel swivel to Wire connection? What size wire were you guys running? And I assume it was Gus's 50LRS's buttoned down to about 20 lbs of drag? If you popped off three Mako's on the troll I gotta think you need some stretch in there...sorry, armchair quarterbacking...just trying to learn!

Chris,

We were running 3ft cable leaders double 10/0 hooks to 30ft 150lb wind-ons and drags were set about fifteen pounds.
