Exclamation Oregon inlet update.....

Hey everyone. I have recieved a few PMs wanting to know how the run to the inlet is so I thought I would just post the information here. Just remember this was from last weekend and things have been changing weekly out of Oregon inlet.

This is information for you when you are heading to the inlet from Wanchese Starting at the hard port turn going toward Oregon Inlet fishing center from the main channel.

As you make the hard left going to the fishing center and crack make sure you stay on the starboard side of the first red nun. We went fairly wide entering the channel heading toward the red nun and there was plenty of water. All is fine from there heading to the fishing center with good water depth. When you get to the turn to enter the crack make sure you stay in between the green nun and the polyballs. The water is very shallow to the right of the polyballs and on the left side a little past the green nun. There have been a lot of boats that have been high and dry outside the channel in this area. Seems like Seatow has set up a booth here. They have been anchored there the past three trips we have made!! They crack was fine and we noticed a few poly balls are missing about 3/4s of the way through the crack so look ahead for the next one. Some of the polyballs have also been moved toward the east near the end of the crack which is good because it was getting shallow as this part of the crack is shifting east. We marked good water all the way from the fishing center entrance to the end of the crack.
When you hit the main channel leaving the crack just stay between the cans and there is good water. Do not run the west side of the green cans as there are some very shallow areas as you head to the bridge.
At the bridge we went through the first span south of the main span as there was a marine warning about the shoaling under the main span. That is the first marine warning I have received on the XM about the shoaling under the bridge!! I went slow through the first span south of the main span and had 1.6 fathoms. As soon as you exit the span make a southerly right hand turn and go at least a few hundred feet then you can turn back to the east and aim for the first green channel marker. This will get you around the shoaling from the north. **It is very shallow due east of the main span birds can walk on the shoaling so be very carefull.** Once we got to the first green can on the east side of the bridge we then made way to the next red can and stayed on the north side of the channel all they way out past the bar and had good water all the way out.......... Just remember that this route is always changing.

Good advice....I drove over the bridge today...being in the truck gives me a better view over the railings...unbelievable how far south that bar has moved and filled in...and these NE blows do not help matters at all.
