My vacation runs from June 11th till I get up the gumption to go back.....I'm over this working for a living crap....let's go fishing....

OH, Report, brother in law went to hatteras on a small private inshore charter, kept one 30 lb cobia, hooked 6, saw like 50 he said....don't know where he was though.

It's getting close for me. Only thing left to the boat is detailing. I need to finish a few rigs and go fish. Been a strange year. Normally have 3 trips under my belt by now.

I have one crew member fishing with me when I come down around the 11th weather permitting. You and Paul are welcome to fish with me on my boat if you are not setup with someone yet.

Sorry i didn't catch up w/ you and Mark this weekend, busy with coaching softball, relay for life and catching up on stuff during my time off..plus I figured you guys saw the weather and there was no way I could get roped into fishing, toooo much going on...

Thanks for the offer to ride on the new contender, but I can't. Paul and I have invested so much over the winter into fishing this spring....full complement of 50's and rods, riggers, windons, planer rod, electronics, saving for gasoline, etc... The bill goes into the thousands.

Christ, Paul even bought a new truck for the deal. Dodge Ram 1500. Just wouldn't be right.

But I promise we'll come along and sneak out during a weekday for some billfishing this summer on your boat when your ready to get out of the office!

Same here. I've got exactly one trip in so far this year, which, while it did get us a big BFT and a decent YFT, i honestly expected to have more trips in by now. We've been saving up for our june trip, and getting everything ready, and I've just about had enough of work without some offshore time. Need to make a few more rigs, finish waxing the boat, etc, but i could be ready to pull out within 24 hours given enough notice. But, I guess I've waited this long that I'll just wait 3 more weeks and enjoy a full week at the beach. Alan, is your Sailfish still down at Hatteras? Are you going to fish out of Oi any at all the weekend of the 11th?

@ Headhunt: let me know where you are and we'll catch up on a layday. Give me enough notice and I'll bring down some fresh Dunkin Donuts for you'se guys. Just leave the door open on your cottage.

@ Mark and Jeff: I'm ready, gimme till August, after the blue-fin this march I can't button down your 50's for very long, I need that drop butt harness pulling that kind of drag. And I'll pass on that 500 Lb blue standup, thank you very much! Paul is built like Vettnman, he can go all out on that big of a fish...

@Dave: the water is not warm enough yet, we're waiting for the gaffer dolphins, they've been every now and then on the charter reports. 16 boats went from OIFC today, 3 (20) lb dolphin. Wax on, Wax off danielson....

Or, Buff on, buff off. Orbitals are a great thing. They've just started catching mahi down in hatteras so i didn't expect the mahi and billfish bite to be going off yet. Morehead is catching the dolphin pretty good right now. I saw where they're still catching a few BFT out of OI, which just sounds nuts. Best year for BFT I've ever seen. I will make time to go after some billfish this july and august out of OI. I'm currently 1-3 on bills. One sailfish caught, and 2 whiteys hooked and lost. I need to improve on that


I even plan on doing some flounder gigging while I'm down there. I currently have some old homemade lights with incandesant bulbs that have to be hooked up to a 12 v battery that you pull behind you, but I just bought a LED light on a telescoping handle that comes with it's own batteries. On the days that I can't get offshore, that's what I'll be doing. Here's a link for anyone that is interested in the light

No it's been here since October. I've been running it on the muffs every couple of weeks to keep the fuel moving.

I probably won't be able to fish after the 11th. I had already booked the rental when you guys picked that date. I'll be in Hatteras June 1 -12. I'll probably trailer to OI a day or two and spend the rest of the time in Hatteras.
