Default Weekend looking up!

Anybody thinking about this weekend? I'd love to find those bluefins; maybe a few stripers on the way home.

I don't think Seth went out today (Sat). I was at the marina waxing the boat and Todd said only a few boats went out. Ran to the inlet and it was slick hardly any wind. I heard the BFTs were down around the 230-280. And some rock were caught straight out of the inlet about 8miles. I Know!! There were also some rock caught off of Rodanthe...Mark

Anybody wanna buy a 28 Bluewater and a bunch of fishing equipment, I'm hanging it up. We went 0-2 on yellowfins 0-0 bluefin, found some rock south of Rondanthe and couldn't get them to chew either. That was my day on the water for February. Maybe march will treat me better. If not; Craig I'm stealing your name and renaming my boat the destined to fail.

Seth sounds like our trip Tuna in January!! But we went 1 for 1 on the YFTs. How far south did you go? I heard between the 230-280. I was there yesterday (sat) but Todd said you weren't out. Want to go next weekend if the weather is good?? Mark

Mark, we started at the 280, I had heard the same report as you. The water had pushed off the edge a good bit, and it would have been a pretty long move south to find the depth I thought the bluefins would be in. So, we had a fleet catching yellowfins about the 290, as soon as we hit the break approaching them we had our two hits and I thought it was on. We worked that area all morning without another sniff, then ran the beach back looking for stripers.
I would love to go next weekend, but it's back to work for me for a couple weeks. I really hope I can get another day for them next month, before we turn to spring fishing.
Mark, on another note; do you store your wind-ons on your reels, or do you keep them in bigger coils?

Seth I leave them on the reels. The day before I go out I pre-stretch them . Just hook the hook or loop around something and pull hard so they stretch a little . This will straighten them out!

it was 280 in around 140 fm then the water went out on sun but the key is being the early boat before the big batch of boats gets there. and LONG baits we fished sat and sun with multibles every day to include some EPIC flatline bites. There are also a good amount of makos in the area
