We walked along the beach in North Nags Head from the Comfort Inn and it is incredible what this storm has done. Nearly every walkway to the beach is destroyed or gone, the townhouse buildings beside the Comfort Inn 1st floor units are wiped out water went in each and everyone. Outdoor Pools on the beachside are destroyed. There also is a incredible amount of beach erosion, and the surf is littered with bobbing wood. The damage is much worse than I expected.

Hwy 12 was not open when we left today. Walked around South Nags Head yesterday and the destruction is very bad.

Is this the house Ken.. I think it is still standing. I watched it at high tide on the web cam the other day and it was pretty wet.

Yes.. Nights in Rodanthe House is still there.. Here is a video worth looking at - YouTube - Highway 12 Update Nov15th 2009 This is down in the Mirlo Beach area just north of Rodanthe & the nights of Rodanthe house.

Fernando - As for coming through the inlet with you. I wasn't too worried about that, I figured if the Lighting & God was going to take someone... They would take the A$$hole first!!!

That was a fun ride back that day!

Talk about Bad Timing...

This house sold on 11/4/2009 for $175,000 cash, which most likely means the home couldn't be insured.

Have to get back down there and see how it did, but I'm sure she probably took a beating.

Yup Headhunt, that's the one. I'm surprised it didn't get wiped out. It's pilings must be way deep for that place to keep standing.

Sorry to hear about all the damage down there. Really gonna suck for some folks.
