Default Swordfish caught while trolling for tuna?

Has anyone heard about the Sea Toy from Pirates Cove boating a swordfish saturday while trolling for tuna? I'd love to hear the details on that bite and catch. I'm guessing the swordie hit a ballyhoo on the troll? Anyway, I guess that saying"you can catch anything out here" really rang true on saturday with this nice swordfish!

I fished offshore Saturday on a charter out of OI. It was our annual business trip that I have been going on for 8 years now. The company that took us fishing had 5 boats chartered for the day. We started out fishing up north on the 950 to the 000's. We ended the day down on the 750 with a good catch of tuna. We had 7 yellowfin and 8 blackfin. It was a long morning. We had our first knockdown of the day at 10:45. It was a double header of a yellowfin and a big eye. The captain knew it was a big eye because of the size of the hole he left in the water we he nailed the flatline. It sounded sooo good to hear that reel scream like that. Needless to say we lost the bigeye due to angler error. The poor guy had been throwing up all morning and then he is handed a rod with a huge bigeye on it. He left slack in the line one too many times and the fish was gone. We did at least get the yf. Where we were fishing there was a squid boat there fishing also. There was chatter on the radio that a boat had scooped up a floating swordfish that was bycatch on the squid boat. I do not know if this is the same fish but you never know. The boat I was on said last week they scooped up a bunch of snowy grouper that was tossed off of the squid boat. Every yellowfin we pulled in Saturday had a belly full of squid. Needless to say the spreader bar was the hot bait of the day. Fresh tuna for dinner tonight!! Also one of the boats in our group caught a 95lb wahoo. It was a stud!!!

Yep spreader bars a plenty will be running next weekend.

Evilgli went today on a Luhr's 40 from Va beach down to the 000's and got shut out. That sucks, it's along drive, even in a 40' express.

Hopefully the fishing stays here for another week. Now where did I put that credit card????
