Default Saturday Oregon Inlet

Watched the forecast and decided that Saturday was the day to get in on the billfish action. Be, Berry and old friend Alan came down and we were off the dock at 5:15am. Still some se swell in the ocean but not a bad ride til we got aways off shore and picked up current and the last 45 min was pretty bumpy. . Very comfortable fishing. Started fishing at 40350 line and 100 fathoms (26800) Temp 82-83* but never could find weed line or pretty water. Fished down to the 280 line deep and shallow. Ended up with 1 very nice gaffer dolphin, 2 wahoo bite-offs (dink rigs) and 0-2 on sailfish. SW wind picked up so it was rocky/roller ride home. All in all a good day on the water with some action..
Regards,
dw

Nice day. I just got back to Manteo...didn't fish today. The wind was whipping all night so we stayed tight and slept in. Lots of driving.

I went out of Southport with a Hal on his Kencraft Saturday and couldn't make it out past 8 miles. #3-5s and really tight seas and the wind was blowing about 15knots. Decided to king fish and ended up with only one king about 18lbs caught him on a Ballyhoo. We only fished until about 1:00pm. Glad to hear you guys got on a few sails!!...Mark

Surprised you went Dave, it was looking to be pretty bumpy. I wanted to go play around in the sound with the tube and the kids, but it was too windy for it. Not to mention too hot!

Billfishing has been on fire here lately!
