Having your lifejackets on board and not wearing them is like putting your seatbelt on during a car accident.

Can't find any pictures as of yet, but here's the writeup about it.

OREGON INLET, N.C. - The Coast Guard rescued three from a 71-foot fishing trawler which sunk near Oregon Inlet, N.C., Wednesday.
Watchstanders at Coast Guard Sector North Carolina heard a mayday call at 6:08 p.m. from the crew of the Boss Lady stating that they were sinking and needed immediate assistance.
The three crewmembers donned their survival suits and climbed up to the pilothouse, which is the highest point on the vessel and the only part still above water when rescue crews arrived.
Two rescue boat crews from Station oregon Inlet and the crew of the tug Candice L, owned by Robin's Maritime, Norfolk, Va., arrived on scene but the Boss Lady was inaccessable to direct assistance from other vessels. The Good Samaritans and Coast Guard station personnel remained on scene to keep communication with the fishing vessel crew and to assist in the case that anyone fell into the water.
A helicopter rescue crew from Air Station Elizabeth City arrived at 7 p.m., hoisted the three individuals, and transported them to Station Oregon Inlet.

I drove across the inlet today and didn't see anything at all.... Only thing i saw was what looked to be a Acura MDX on the beach that was buried overi it's wheels & you could see the water has already been up around it.. On the way back there was a tow truck there trying to get it unstuck

My brother and I fished Pea Island yesterday and saw the wreck. Not much left of the vessel with debri scattered from the old Coast Guard Station to well past mile marker 29. The crew was very fortunate to survive!

With no intention to make light of the serious nature of the incident, here's a photo of brother Mike standing on what's left of the transom.....

The current and shoals sure ripped that boat up in a hurry. Anyone think they will recover the fuel tanks? It had to be loaded down.
