I'm not sure exactly...I know wilmington has studios so I think they might have done it there but I recognize that house in the trailer. The horses in the trailer definitely did not come from the outer banks though! They look like they just got off the track...

Here's what the house really looks like... (Gotta Love Dare Counties Website)

It is owned by a couple from PA. Looks like they "cleaned it up" for the movie as the house in the trailer looks a lot better.

This house is the first house on the left when you enter Mirlo Beach which is the start of Rodanthe.

From what I heard they filmed some of the movie here but a good deal of the movie was filmed on Topsail Island also.

Most of the parts filmed here were filmed in the middle of a Nor'Easter.

Thanks guys, I think I've seen that house. Their is a part of Rodanthe or Salvo I forget which, but they have a bunch of homes that sit really high on stilts. The few times I have driven by I always think I never renting down here, just too many stairs to climb.

I sat in traffic for a week AM and PM waiting for the film crews and DCSO to open up the road because his highness, Mr. Geer was crossing the road.

The house is the first on the left as you enter Rodanthe. It's about half in the ocean today, it will only be a matter of time before the ocean eats it. Every Nor'easter and the folks have to pay the sand removal guys to go push the sand back under the pilings. If the wind blows NE, then there isn't much of a driveway anymore.

They actually gussied it up for the movie, they had deep blue painted shutters installed on all the windows, and big deck coverings, making it feel more beachy. They also cut down or shipped in about 15 huge cedar trees and temp planted them in the sand around the house for background.

Apparently Mr. Geer developed a fondness for 1521 Restaurant in Manteo, he ate there every night while filming, and wouldn't allow anyone to look at or speak with him. Rumor, yes.

At any given time when filming, there were 3-5 fully loaded tractor trailers with just film equipment involved.

The pier scene where the beautiful Diane Lane tosses the rose in the ocean was filmed at either the Rodanthe or Avon pier also. There was also some scenes also shot in Buxton. I heard the same rumor about Richard Gere eating quite a bit during production at 1587 in Manteo. I live in Manteo and have only had dinner there once years ago. It is to froo froo for me

Anyone seen this yet? I heard they also did a scene in pirate's cove showing "rainbow row" charter boats?
