I've always enjoyed catching croaker then running to Manns Harbor and live baiting them for striper. Catch and release of course but on light tackle it can be a lot of fun!

Otherwise I try flounder but always have a hard time catching keepers

Maybe you should just troll the beach for spanish and brine those things for later.. They are everywhere out there now and it probably won't be soon you convince yourself to troll inshore all weekend so why not stock up

At least your going, I'm sitting in a cubicle making haywire twists with paper clips!

I would have to agree.

Mark, I would run through the inlet and head south drop some clark spoons over the side and have some fun!!

I'm a big fan of Spanish on the Grill too!!

If you need anyone to help fill a boat next week let me know, I'm starting to shake as I haven't been out in awhile.

As I told Dave (dawiggs) today, work has been busy which I guess is a good thing but I like my freedom. Guess I need that lottery winning to come through.

Well time for a beer!

Thanks for the info guys. The plan has been to do some Spanish trolling for Sept-Nov bait. Got the clark spoons ready. The inside thing is a backup plan if it is to rough. The wife likes to go out but not when it is rough. Don't want to turn her off from going out on the boat. You guys don't know how hard it is for me to stay in tight to land. Better take a picture because you wont see it much........... Mark

Tried today for spanish...don't trust the weatherman. I might try again tomorrow, but my bottom machine pooped the bed today punching through the inlet, so tomorrow I would be guessing depth.

Next week I'm going to try my best to take up collections for a new (used) bottom machine and pray for flat calm seas.

I never trust the weather man out of OI that's one reason I got XM weather!!! You can pull up the forecast as well as the buoy data right on the boat.... Mark

The Admiral and myself are going down the sound today and bottom fish. If she takes a nap I will sneak outside the inlet and troll for spanish. Weather report looks good. Probably missed a good day to be offshore.
Have fun..
