Default Less than two weeks....

.....till my week long vacation in Duck. Damn I'm stoked!

Need to call the Marina and reserve a spot right now, actually.

Just got through ordering some gear. Couldn't order alot, but I got some Dolphin Candy rigs from BPS, some pencil poppers and jigs, kingfish rigs.
My primary plan is to run straight to the 102 tower to fish topwaters and jigs for AJ. Will bring along some spadfish gear just in case.
Secondary plan will be to keep an eye out for floatsam and weedlines and troll the few rigs I do have around that.

Also, where might I find live bait? Obviously bunker would be the preference....I've got some sibiki rigs and can get a few more.

Spend 30 dollars on 2 #2 planers and clark spoons, troll up and down the beach in 30 feet of water and pick up pinfish.

Keep them alive and take them to the tower with you, and live bait them.

OR, buy some some pink vertical jigs with hooks.

There is no live bait for sale on the beach, except eels for cobia. You catch it yourself.

Any areas where I oughta expect to see some bunker, etc, that I can scare up with sibiki rigs?
I'm thinking about picking up a pinfish trap and leaving it at the slip....

I saw a big School of Menhaden at the #4 channel marker today (18th)when I pulled out of Wanchese. There was another school closer to the inlet. Both schools had pretty good size baits...Mark

Sweet, thanks for the scoop.....I'll keep my eyes out on the way out, I think I'm going to invest in a better cast net rather than a spot trap.

The water is not that deep between wanchese and the inlet. You can see bait really good and watch for birds. Cast net is the way to go....Mark

Just in case the conditions aren't good for offshore...I'd appreciate any tips for inshore fishing in the sound....any suggestions?
