Default Planer Rod scores again in Hatteras

Well, we fished the Hatteras Grand Slam and ended up with one sailfish. Had several in the baits but we struggled getting them hooked up on the circle hooks. The boat that won the tourney (Qualifier) fishes in the winter in Mexico and has plenty of practice with circles. They ended up with seven billfish. So it can be done.

On Sunday we decided to fish a short day on Bad Bottom and we couldn't catch a cold till we trolled all the way back to within 5 miles of the inlet. Then the planer rod scored big.

We had trolled over to the area called the "Tug Wreck" and were trolling around the buoy when the planer rod tangled on somebody's old anchor line that was semi-submerged. We hauled it in and it included about 75 feet of real pretty 1/2 inch braided line with a Danforth and chain on the other end. The planer rod never fails us!
