It looks like E-10 is getting more inland now. I went to put some gas in the boat for the 4th and went to the local Wilco-Hess station. Nothing was marked on the tanks and I asked the attendants about E-10 and I got the deer in the head light look. All they could tell me was they put gas in the tank (brilliant people). I get the corp. # and call and the offices are closed. I put around 35 gallons in my fiberglass tank. The next day the corporate office calls me and tells me they have Ethanol in their gas (great). After a long conversation and documentation for later purposes I was told nothing could be done until something tore up on my boat. I use my boat Thur, Fri, and Sat in hopes I could get all the gas out before it could hurt the tank. On Friday after watching the fireworks we are coming in and I am idleing through a passage to get to my house and notice this smell, I look back and see nothing but smoke coming out the exhaust. I quickly change to my side tanks that are aluminum and it goes away. I run the boat for about 5 miles to make sure all the old stuff is out before I shut it down. No issues after that. Long story short, it looks like my tank is done and will have to be replaced. I am planning on trying to get Wilco-hess to help with the repair since their employees ignorance or lack of knowledge could have prevented all of this. Now that I know what to smell for, Ethanol gas has different smell than regular.
