Default Hatteras this past weekend

Fished out of Hatteras on Sat and Sunday. It was pretty quiet for us both days. On Saturday we fished up near the weather buoy and 230 to 280 rocks. Ended up with 5 mahi and one king. No real size to any of them. Pink and white sea witch/bally caught most of the fish.

On Sunday it was even slower. We fished the same general area and caught 3 mahi. Tried the deep for a billfish but no takers. There were quite a few tuna smashing the surface at the 230/280 rocks but I didn't hear of anyone managing to boat one. It sounded like a few mahi were caught there and we saw one white marlin caught.

Nice weather though but it was still a bumpy ride in and out.

Capt fred,
Seems most of the tunas we saw feeding on really small yumis. Might want to try a smaller bait like PeeWee ballyhoos with a smallish cutdown seawitch...Mark

Yup Mark, that's probably what was going on. You could hear it in the charter captains voices that they were getting pretty frustrated not being able to find the right option for the YF. I had the kite set up with me but we were running out of time and I just didn't feel like setting it up for 1/2 hour of fishing.
