Default Cobia trip

We fished a couple of days ago in search of the "man in the brown suit". We saw about eight and caught three. My buddy pulled the hook on a really nice after about a ten minute battle but you will have that from time to time. We also caught about fifteen or so spanish while riding around looking for cobes. Most of the cobia we spotted were swimming with turtles. I saw some of the largest turtles I have ever seen. Here is one pick of our catch. I will post a few more when I get time to upload them off my camera. None of them are trophey size but it was still a blast. Notice the cobia on the left that Gary caught with a tag in it. A nice little extra bonus.

Gary on the left, Mack in the middle, And me on the right. Damn it was hot but the beer wa really cold!!

Very nice!

Cobia are something that I need to target more this summer. I need to take a nearshore charter and learn more about them.

Cobia fishing is one of my favorite types of fishing. We always sight cast for them. I love nothing more than to see the fish, cast to him, and watch him take the bait. The one I caught in the photo was actually a pair of them under a turtle. When I hooked him the other one(a much larger fish) chased him around for at least 2 to 3 minutes trying to take the lure out of his mouth. They were throwing water all over the place. It was awesome to watch but on the other hand I was worried about him hitting my line and snapping it. It all worked out.

Chris if you are interested send me a pm with a contact number for you and I will give you a call on one of our next trips. My buddy's boat is rigged up for cobia fishing with a nice tower. We are always looking for someone to go with us. We target them a lot this time of year. After the cobia sightings ease up then when concentrate more on the offshore fishing.
