Nope...

I got butt-raped at west marine trying to find the one tube of 4200 left in eastern NC so I can seal up my hatches and go fishing next week. It didn't help that they had the audacity to rearrange the entire store layout over the winter. I actually had to ask for help from the GM in order to find it.

2 tubes of 4200, 2 tubes of marine caulk, the nifty caulk bead smoother thinger, and a 72 dollar lighter wallet, and we're in business for the weekend work. Just tying up loose odds and ends.

Trigger down at NAPA got me the supplies needed for polishing the gelcoat. I'm gonna attempt to get the oxidation off the boat this weekend. It's managed to get pretty bad over the winter.

The reports online tended to be good news, and the weather from what I can see, is shaping up to be ok. (I'd say excellent but then it will change to a hurricane for next week).

Chris, try laying down two pieces of blue painters tape on either side of where you are trying to lay the caulk. Just run your finger over the caulk to smooth it out and then pull up the tape and let it dry. That's how the pro's do it

Go take your caulk smoother outter thingy back to save a few bucks for the gas tank.

Matt,

No offense intended. I had a tube of 4200 laying around, but she dried up. I also had some marine silicone, but I can't find it in the mess that is my workshop. I might have actually used it on a house project somewhere.

The Gm was very helpful, and took me right to the product. I just cringe when I see what they charge for products, same way I cringe when I see what my customers pay for gas, when I know what it costs.

Guess that's called makin a livin'.

SteveKran,

Thanks for the tip, I'll do that, because my caulk smoother thingy was like 9$, and that's another two gallons of gas in the tank!
