Ill tell ya the tree huggers will do anything!! What has happened is really wrong in every shape and form.We have the same problem here but with the Red Cockaided Wood Pecker!! Seems to me that the Plover like the Woodpecker thrives where people keep the preditors away. I think the tree huggers have written the final chapter in the plovers existance.......Mark

Well the funny part is that there have been all this "violations" of the new laws, or people going where they aren't suppose to. The weird part is no one is going near any of the nests that these closed off areas are protecting..

Every time there is a violation of the restrictions the closed areas are expanded which results in a larger area being closed..

Every article I have read about the violations, the only thing that was bothered were the "closed signs" were removed from the ground and placed on the ground.

Hmmm, I wonder if the tree huggers are removing the signs in order to have larger areas closed....

Maybe so???

That is the word on the street. Why would fisherman, surfers, shell seekers, kite borders, ect tear down any signs knowing it will just mean they will expand the closed off areas.

I was at ramp 23 yesterday and the NPS was all over the place patrolling all day. A friend of mine was at Oregon Inlet Sunday and said they closed the beach at about 4:00 because there was no where else for any vehicles to park because so much of it is was closed for nesting. It was strange driving over the OI bridge yesterday and not seeing any trucks on the beach on Memorial Day. It is sad.
