Default I am SO PISSED!!!!

I am supposed to be in Hatteras as we speak heading offshore on fellow TBR member Captain Jay's charter the "Bite Me". I got up at 3:30 am and pulled out of the driveway around 4:00 to meet four customers of mine in Nags Head so we could all ride down together. There was a horrible accident between Wanchese and Pirates Cove blocking everything. Traffic was backed up a long ways. There are a lot of captains and mates that live in Manteo that could not get to Pirates Cove or oregon Inlet. The police would not even let captains/mates walk past the accident to get to Pirates Cove. Needless to say I called my customers at 4:30 and told them to head on down and I would catch up with them as soon as I could. Two #@&%!^% hours later I gave up came home. The police said it would be at least another hour before traffic could pass through. The bad part is I had all of the food, drinks,BEER, and the money for tip and fish cleaning. To top it all off the company that was taking us fishing did not show up to the dock until 6:30. So not only did my customers not have any food other than a few snacks they could round up in Hatteras this morning but the freaking "big wigs" all show up late. They had three boats chartered today and they were all sitting and waiting for the "big wigs" to get there. So I hope it is a banner day fishing for my customers for all the crap they had to put up with today. I wanted to fish SOOOO BAD!!! I am going to be one crabby s.o.b. today.

The one upside to missing the trip today is I will not miss my son's first baseball game of the season. I am also an assitant coach so I know the head coach will be glad I am there.

Sorry to hear about this. I know from first hand experience how frustrating things like this can be.

Just remember Chris, everything happens for a reason.

Enjoy your son's ballgame!

Bummer! Must have been a bad scene not to let the guys walk through..At 4am not many people out except boaters/fisherpeople. There are a couple thousand Bikers here on the beach for the week-end, so hope none of them were involved.
Sorry you missed the fishing trip but glad you are safe..
Enjoy the Game...
Regards,

Yes my son was happy that I am home for his game. That did ease the pain a little. I don't have much on the details of the wreck. I know there were fatalities. I saw one of the trucks involved in the wreck on a flatbed tow truck. It was awful. The engine was in the front seat of a full size Chevrolet pick up. No motorcycles were involved. It is bike week here and there are LOTS of bikes on the Outer Banks. Just from some of the crazy driving I witnessed the past couple of days from some of the bikers I am sure there will be a few bad motorcyle wrecks this weekend too. I sure hope not. I must say the bikini bike wash at Hooters the past couple of days almost made me wreck

You should have started a temporary water taxi from Manteo to Pirates Cove and then used your earnings to fish out of Pirates Cove instead

Sorry you missed your Fishing trip BUT you can go another day.............

Now , How pissed do you think the Family's of the DEAD people are ?

There is a good chance they were fishermen and maybe even TBR members , let us know when you find out.

Glad you got to enjoy your sons 1st game. I'm sure that was VERY important to Him.

When I was sitting in that traffic waiting to see if I was going to get a chance to fish or not I went through different thoughts. At first I was upset about missing my trip. Second I was glad I did not leave any earlier than I did or I might have been involved in the accident. Third I started to wonder and worry if it was anybody I knew. I have lived here my whole life and know a lot of people. I also thought about the poor families that got a phone call early this morning with the terrible news. So I was thinking of other things than just missing my trip. I was just venting on the board this morning. I have been looking forward to this for 3 weeks. My customers are the ones I really felt bad for. Maybe they tore up some fish today and everything will be ok.

On a good note we won our baseball game 7 to 1!!!

Again , sorry , if I took your post wrong.

Congrats to you and your Son on the game today And God Bless those that left this world this morning, RIP.

No worries Lester. I should have worded my story a little differently. I certainly did not want to come off as caring only about myself and the fishing trip. I was just frustrated this morning.
