You know when you flip your boat you have to blame it on a unmarked shoal. That is proper etiquette for your insurance.. Anyway you look at they were lucky as hell. That inlet has claimed numerous vessels , as we all know.
Here's a quote I found from the Captain of the Sea Pro....

I was the owner of this boat in question...She was the Southeastern(if you wanted to know); a 24' Sea Pro with a cuddy cabin...Again can't thank the Lil' Jeanie captain and crew & USCG for brining us home...Growing up in the area all my life & fishing the inlet with my grandfater...He & my dad had always warned me of how dangerous these waters can be...So I found out the hard way...When that S SE wind whipped up I came about heading back into the inlet...I had made my turn and as I looked over my right shoulder I saw a wave crash under my starboard aft and pushed my port bow down and water came over the gunnel and poured into my cabin and pushed her down...She started listing futher and futher to her port and just rolled completely over...We were in the water about 15 mins before the Lil Jeanie spotted us and I fishing parter Jeffery from NY started heading out to look for us when we didn't answer back on the radio...Again, we are both OK and I will getting married in Duck on Sat...We got married over me getting a new boat; hopefully we won't get divorced for another one...I can't wait to get back to Inlet, just a new found respect for the waters of Oregon Inlet...
