Default Oregon Inlet Cut Report......

I thought I would just give a short report on how the run from Wanchese to the inlet was Saturday.
On the morning run out we went around through hells gate and there is plenty of water all the way to the bridge.
Coming back in we went through the cut. We took the channel with the green and red round markers as soon as you go back under the bridge to the right. It is a little shallow for the first 100yds or so. The depth was from 2.9-4.5 ft but after that it was fine all the way back around to the main channel heading north to Wanchese. Looks like there was another channel due west of this channel and saw a few charters running it. There is a bar between the old channel and the channel due west. I didn't see any entrance markers for the channel they were running but it merged with the old channel well before you get to the starboard turn to OI fishing Center.....Mark
The bar across the Inlet is was 7ft at low tide where we came through in the afternoon. We had a pretty good swell in the morning but no problem making it out or back in........Mark

Thanks, I normally get up early and follow a charter out on my first trip from PC then leave the trail marked in the GPS.

Need to be careful going out the first time at dark. The first or second Green channel buoy after going under the Bridge was missing its top. Just the base was moored. Not much sticking out of the water, just about 2 or 3 feet of it.

Yeah I saw that marker without a top as well...they need to get that fixed! I did hear that a boat I worked on a little last summer plucked a couple guys out of the inlet on saturday. From what he told me, it was the FIRST trip on their new 26' cc. Glad to heard the two are alright but it's a shame that happened. Anybody else heard this? All I can figure is that it was too rough for them to handle so they tried to turn around on the bar and rolled it...

Thanks for the detailed info Mark. It has been a couple months since I've run it and was wondering what shape it was in.

I heard this from Junior at the tackle shop in Wanchese. I hate to hear things like that...Mark

I talked with Harry, the Boat US Towing guy, Saturday morning and he said he towed the CC in upside down Friday nite. He said it got rolled in the Inlet. People in the water were rescued by a nearby boat. THe Inlet was still nasty Friday with left over swell from last weeks blow.
