Default Did anyone go yesterday??

wel, did anyone go yesterday?? Any fishing reports? I had to ride down to wilmington to pick up my boat, and I noticed that it was very breezy down there. Was it a little rough offshore? I'm chomping at the bit to hear a report.

We went out of Oregon Inlet Saturday. Made the run due east only to find the eddy had moved further offshore. Crap!! since we were already there we ran out to 800 fathoms and finally hit 70 degree water. First line in the water about a 12lb dolphin and that was it for the day. It was a little sporty that far out. All I can say we took a chance on the eddy still being there but it wasnt. No hard break like the sst the night before. Some time you win a few but not Saturday. Still was a good shake down run for the boat and thanks to Jeff and Josh for going....Tight lines Mark

Default Not much more from me...

Mark, even though the sst was scattered it did look like that eddy was broken off so we said screw it and ran south.
Got a really late start because of early morning confusion and didn't start draggin until 10:00! Ran the beach and enjoyed the ride but once we got near the tower, the seas picked up considerably. It was a little nasty but once we found the warm water, it got better. Fished a 63/71 edge with one other boat pretty much all day and nabbed some dolphin. Biggest was 32#. Smallest....well see the picture. LOTS of scattered grass and hardly any marks to be found. We ended the day in some 76 degree water and a mystery bite. Good to get out there but it was a slow day...

I love the term "sporty."

As for that Bull good lookin fish and even better eatin!!!

Also, you gotta love the "will" of the smaller dolphin as the hook he took is about as big as he is!!!

We too fished Sat. It was slow, and started our pretty sporty, especially in a 22'
We ended up lines in @ 9:15 in 1000 fathoms just to get clean warm water. No fish, scattered grass, ran south to the 550 and fished near the fleet for a few hours, not even a knock down. Headed back inshore a bit and bottomfished. Big (but pricy) black sea bass. Suffered a bad txducer, 2nd one on the Lowrance, lost temp and 50k
Will try again in a few weeks.

The later it got, the rougher it got. I had to put the rubbers on shortly after that pick because it was wettt.

My friend that caught it was saying he caught bass twice as big the day before, so why were we all the way out here! We definitely thought about rigging it up, it was perfect size. I've never done it with a dolphin but I'd like to know how to. Maybe a drawup Mark? A couple blues were spotted north of us and that 76 water we got in later was looking right.

I think that full moon messed with everybody. I had heard several skunks from wrightsville and morehead on saturday. We were on track for a good while to do the same...
