Default Bald Head Island?

Anyone ever been? My wife and I were thinking about our yearly trip to Ocracoke and got to thinking we might check out Bald Head instead.

Any input would be greatly appreciated.

Default Bald Head Island

I Highly reccommend Bald Head. They have 2 clubs on the island, a golf club, and a yacht club with olympic size pool, tiki bar, and restaurant. For $20.00, you get a membership that includes all amentities during your visit - well worth it. Also, rent a golf cart for the day as cars are not allowed and tour the island. You will need it anyhow to get to the club on the otherside of the island. You will love it there as it is upscale with many celebreties owning properties (if you care about that sort of thing). Also, you are not that far from Frying Pan Shoals Tower and the fishing is great. All in all a great piece of waterfront. The wife will love the spas they have there as well. The marina and staff are top notch and a convenience store and 2 restaurants are located next to the marina. Have fun.

My wife and I spent a day on the island 3 years ago. We stayed at a B&B in Southport and took the ferry over. We felt like we were frowned upon for being "Day People". Nice place, Great Beach. We brought lunch, rented a cart and sat on the south beach all day. I think we saw 4 other couples and this was July.

What CaptainMark and FastFJR said:

We usually stay at Theodosia's B&B but there is also Marsh Harbor Inn. We've also rented Island houses for long weekends as well. With Theodosia's you also get complimentary membership at the golf club during your stay and a golf cart to tool around the Island. Sometimes we just do it as a day trip. There is enough to see (if you venture out across the island) to make it worthwhile. The trip there usually constitutes my wife's annual and only boat trip for the year. The restaurants are good (esp at the club) but not great. There is a well stocked grocery on the island. It's definitely worth the trip at least once. We never felt like we were frowned upon by anyone. More than half the people there are renting.
