Default 1st week of March...what's biting out of OI?

Just got the word that spring break will be at the beach this year, and I've never fished down there in early March, so I was curious what'll be around that I can try for either out of OI in my boat or off the beach with my waders.

You might be wasting you time out of OI the stream will still be a long way out and the water is cold. Now Hatteras is where I would be in March!! Mark

Well we're staying in KDH, so the ride to Hatteras is obviously not out of the question, but at the same time, I don't see going down there everyday...whereas the trip to OI isn't quite so bad (trailer across the bridge to the wildlife ramp across from Pirates Cove and run from there...quite pleasant compared to the hours trailering down to Hatteras).

I was thinking Hatteras too but I'm biased. I've only gone out of OI once - with the crew on this board. Big fun and good fishing a bit later in the spring. You could have a mega long ride from OI to the stream. INCLUDING the drive down to Hatteras you may still get to the stream quicker.

Well then I reckon I'll tentatively plan on finding the best day or two and running out of Hatteras. Hoping to have switched all my reels to braid by then, so I'll be anxious to try it out.

Hatteras is the only game in town that time of the year. I'm always there but the tricky part is finding a good couple of weather days. I have seen it blow the whole month out for small boat guys like us.
