Default Aluminum Fuel Tank - On Deck

I'm looking to have an an aluminum fuel tank made for my Montauk which would fit and the RPS (seat). I've found a number of companies who make larger tanks but not smaller, approx 25 gallon tanks with a vented fuel cap. Can anyone make a recommendation?

Thanks

You might want to find a fab shop to do it. Just make a sketch of what you want and bring it to a welding shop. Just a tank with fittings welded in, and a gas bung. Throw a couple baffles in there and your set. Something like that should only take a couple days to make. You take it to any kind of marine shop and your paying big bucks. Hell, I'll bet you welder could do it in no time and give you a great price. If I do it, I'm making it out of stainless.

FASTFJR,
My Montauk had a clear red fiberglass fuel tank and I loved that tank!! You could see exactly how much fuel you had in it. I beleive the company still makes them. I could do some research and find out who the Co. is if you want. The Montauck is a fine Boat. Had Mine for 10years and sold it for almost what I pd for it!!....Mark

You had one of the original Pate Tanks. http://www.tackletour.com/reviewpate.html They are still in business. The are Great tanks, until ethanol hits them. I was told by Pate in December that the interior coating has been updated by I have heard and seen 1st hand the results even from their new tanks.

This is a copy of the email that was sent to me from my local BW dealer when I was looking to purchase a Pate Tank

Jim, Do you guys carry, sell the 24 Gallon Pate fiberglass fuel tank? And if so how much is it?

WE DID SELL THE PATE FIBERGLASS TANKS BUT NOT ANYMORE DUE TO THE
ISSUES WE HAD WITH THE ETHANOL FUELS. I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND USING
THAT TANK DUE TO THE PROBLEMS THAT IT CAUSES WITH THE ETHANOL EATING
THE FIBERGLASS EVEN WITH THE NEWER TANKS THAT THEY MAKE I HAVE HAD
PROBLEMS & IT CAN BE VERY COSTLY $1000 PLUS TO REPAIR SO I WOULD
BEWARE OF USING IT. (AND PATE WON’T HELP IN THE REPAIRS) ANY QUESTIONS
PLEASE CALL.

THANKS,

WARRANTY ADMINISTRATOR

Thanks Tom
I was told by Pate the new tanks after 05 are completely ethanol proof? Maybe I'll just get a Moeller 26 gallon tank

BETTER CHOICE, PATE IS COMPLETELY WRONG ABOUT THAT, I HAVE INSTALLED
(6) NEW ONES BUILT IN 2006/2007 & THEY HAVE FAILED & THEY KNOW IT.
GOOD LUCK.

Tom

I put two 18 gallon tanks under the seat of our old 17' Montauk. Man, you could go forever with the 70 Evinrude on it, just not very fast. I had to trim a little bit of the seat support out to get them in there, but, it took like 15 minutes. Oh yeah, that was in 1996 and they are still there.

Yea it really does suck. I'm going to give them the benefit of a doubt and give them a call sometime next week and question the heck out of them about the internal coating they use on the inside of the tank and what if any warranties they have. I would really like to have one of their tanks under my RPS.
