I was just stating that over the years how I see it. Merc was a race motor and Yamaha was a work motor. Heck, every motor has its problems, etec lower units, yamaha elect. and 300 probs, and I have seen a couple verado probs as well. I have been very impressed with the Verados thus far, its a hell of a motor and in my opinion state of the art. I would run one in a heart beat. So, don't get bent out of shape I like them all.
south - not bent outta shape at all, but I find the more I deal with yam dealers, they keep going back to this reliabiity thing and bash everyone else vs telling me on a feature/advantage/benefit why they are better...and keep coming up short...love working them at the boat shows....

best motors I know close to me are my boss's F150's....excellent motors

I understand. When you gonna make it out this way so we can bloody up that boat? Mardi Gras is right around the corner.

I know what you mean about the dealers. I had a great laugh at lunch today. On my way back from Sonic my friend and I were at a red light in front of a Chevy dealer showing someone a little ss model car. Don't know what kind but a small car smaller than the impala. Well, they crank it up and out blows blue smoke and the people just looked at it then stared at the salesman. I would love to hear his explanation of it. I nearly lost my lunch when I saw that happen.

they are 06's and have 200 hours or so and except for the clunking in an out of gear which is LOUD, they have been great....

south -

ANY salesperson - or poster for that matter - that does not explain the advantge/feature of his product over the compettiion is weak...As soon as they start bashing, I walk away...I want to hear how your product is better, not why I should buy because the other stuff is weak. My opin of working shows and interviewing fac reps is yam is the worst, then etec, then zuke and then Merc....honestly.....Merc seems to genuinely like thir stuff - this comes from 3 of the biggest shows and having the engineers/VP on my owner's trips for the last two years...the guys at Zuke are pretty cool too...

Would the stainless steel prop cause a louder CLUNK than an aluminum one because of the weight ?

I don't know that much about the F150 but would like to know more.
