Anyone running a 255 conquest with twin 150 verados,at 5000rpm iam getting about 34mph factory rigged running in salt water stainless 3 blade props could get 5200 and still be withinthe 95%sync range fully loaded?
whaler can prop wrong in many cases...what is your wide open throttle rpm when you are loaded medium, and trimmed almost to the point of caviation? (and this should be in the boating forum)
you got a major problem.....you need to spin at least 6000 rpm for the long term health of a verado...it could be a mis prop- I would try a mirage 15P - or the engines are mounted too low - or both - read the part here about "propping correctly" on page 8....
I talked to ken, i think he will be a great help. Am i missing something, if i get the rpms up to 6000 wot than i have to back down to 5700 or less to stay in sync 95% with twins. Is that the down side of twins, if so does it make a difference to the health of the motor to run 5000 or 5700?
sync really has nothing to do with it...the reason they unsync at WOT is so they can run free - and get you max speed...it's good for them to run unbridled....
you just need to make sure it can do 6000 (actaully 6250) when prop testing as that allows the engine to run like it was designed at ALL speeds..you should run at WOT for 2 min everytime you go out....babying an engine is worse than using it hard....
don't forget to look at your engine height...can't prop correctly unitl your motors are are the proper height....
Yes read it all, and told ken my boat is in storage for the winter (idaho) I'll take it out early in feb. , find a body of water and check the plate hieght. And do what ever it takes to get it right, before heading up to fish camp in British Columbia for the summer. I still need to have the update flash done.
