Default Prop work

Gotta get some prop work done. I'm hoping when they get back(sending them off tues), that I'll get my WOT speed back and stop hitting the limiters. As bent as one of the blades has been, anything should be an improvement. We'll wait and see. My WOT speed had dropped from 53mph loaded to a little over 49mph. My economy is still the same at 2.3. I'm going to have them add a little more cup to it. Will post the results after I get them back

Dave how did you do that? Loading the boat?? I wouldn't run the boat much with damaged props. It could cause some shaft or seal problems from vibration....Mark

No, it was pretty much like that when I bought the boat 3 years ago. I think he may have touched an oyster bed somewhere. The only thing I have touched is an occasional sandbar around the Crack. There's only one prop that had any damage, but it seems to have gotten worse though over the last year or so. I hadn't felt any vibrations or loss of performance until recently, so I've been looking around for a reputable prop shop to do some work on them. Found a place in minnesota that has a really good reputation and is pretty affordable. Just hope they can get them back to me pretty quick

Dave - What diameter and pitch are those? I would have thought you might get some very slight vibration out of those. I'm betting that you'll be pleasantly surprised when you get them back.

They're 3x16x20 suzuki SS props. I'm not real sure what they're going to do yet, but they may add a little more cup to them. They've got to look at them first. If I get them back and the boat's back to WOT speed and the boat's off the limiters I'll be very happy. It'll probally be 2-3 weeks from today on the turnaround time

Where are you sending them? From what I hear, cupping should slightly reduce the rpms and also provide better bite. Would be interesting to see what my 3 X 16 X 23s would do on there,,,,probably cut the rpms too much.

It would be interesting to see what those props would do. What kind of #ers did you see with your 200's and those props?

The most rpms I could get was 5700 - 5800 fully trimmed. (this is with the bottom painted). Speed before bottom paint would hit 60ish and I'm told rpms were at 6000 also. After I painted the bottom, with 5800 rpms, I was getting 56 mph. Now I'm running 4 X 15 X22 and getting 6000 rpms but top speed is down to 53mph with a clean bottom.

I got my props back yesterday. Took a little longer than I thought it would. They look pretty good, and are already on the boat. I plan on running the boat at my local resevoir tomorrow and will see if there is any improvement.
