Yes, you can put an inboard in most anything, but you will have to install a shaft log, rudder post, etc. One problem with an inboard in a small boat is that you have trouble getting a shaft angle that is reasonably efficient and still have the boat be balanced properly. A boat that size will perform much, much better with an outboard than an inboard, for both the reason stated above as well as the fact that an outboard is a whole lot lighter than an inboard set-up. I wouldn't even think about putting an inboard in it, if I were you.

I knew the weight and room would be a tought thing to over come, I was just trying to thinking of something different to do in a small boat.

If I were going to do something different with your boat, I'd figure out a way to take the engine and jet drive off an old jetski and put that in it--now that is a set-up that should work on a small hydroplane.

I actually did something similar to my boat, but I have a 33 foot and I went from twin outboards to a cummins diesel. If I am reading right, you have a 11 foot boat and someone recommended the shaft log and all that stuff. I know that my engine sits almost on the floor in my boat and the rudder is 8 feet behind the back of the tranny. So my setup is about 13 feet long, so i couldn't possibly see you being able to put a shaft drive in the boat. What's wrong with the outboards. The whole point of smaller boats is being able to go in shallow water where you can pick up the motor if it gets too shallow. The only inboard option would be the jetski, but you are going to spend a fortune and it will never be balanced as correctly as when it had the outboard. That's my .02
