I wouldn't even change the impeller. I subjected mine to much worse treatment last summer when I towed a guy back for an hour with the flushing plug missing, hence, no water pressure for the impeller. I pulled it apart this spring, looked like it was new. Evilgli can verify, it would've gone another 300 hours before it even thought about failure.

That being said, my Zuke is now out of warranty, bet she throws a Rod next trip!

Chris, some more confirmation on where that grass came from. When the mechanic saw the pictures of the grass, first thing he said was I must have sucked some up in my lower unit. He thought that with us removing that grass, that that should eliminate the bubbling at the prop. As far as Tab goes, she probally wasn't too happy to be out there in the heat pulling grass out of the motor. She was also probally wondering how much that was going to cost! BTW, that Liquid Glass does a good job polishing those motors doesn't it!!

Dave - You might want to leave it in the water for awhile, away from those critters. I could pull mine and just use yours from time to time to make sure the crabs, etc. don't start liking it.

I don't belive I ever see you post a fishing report!! You need to pull it anyway and come fish with us up here at OI

Sorry I couldn't help Dave.... Hell, I can't even spell dawberr and they made nests out of sand where I grew up. We weren't fortunate enough to have mud. Are you using the flush port when you get the boat home after fishing or the muffs???

PimpDaddy... so I've been called!!

I had to look it up myself Alan, I've always called them dirt doggers. Suzuki recommends rinsing the motor out on the muffs and with the flushing port if you have no access to a muff(wetslip). I always rinse them out(salt or fresh) when I get the boat back home. Motor ran absolutely fine on the muffs , even with all that grass in there. In the water, I guess the extra exhaust that couldn't get out the usual way , was bubbling out of the prop. One thing I'm wondering , is did the dirt dauber nest possibly make that motor somehow pickup the grass and go thru the motor? I don't have a clue. It was a first time for me with both the nest and the grass issue in the 18 years I've run an outboard.....Dave

Dave, I could say that I keep my fishing reports secret, but the truth is that this year I've used the boat more for fun type things than I have for fishing. Running to Southport for lunch at Provisions and then maybe catching some live pogies and fishing Yaupon or the shipping channel, or running to Wrightsville and checking out Dockside or one of the other waterfront watering holes. Now that the water has cooled a touch, and we've had a small noreaster, the fishing should improve, plus its pushing tournament time, so gotta start checking out some of the honey holes for smoker kings. You need to consider coming down and fishing the US Open out of Southport this year. Great tournament and has a really good guaranteed payout.

(PM me if you need any info on where to get replacement upholstery)
