Default livewell pump problem

I have a Parker 23 DVCC. I have the dual shurflo system. The water comes through the thru hull and the pump then feeds the livewell and the washdown pump. I cannot get water to the livewell. First, I replaced the cartridge in the pump thinking it was not pumping water fast enough. No help. Just to be clear, the washdown system is working fine.

So, I disconnected the water hose that goes from the pump to the livewell. I then hooked my regular water hose (from the dock water) to the hose and it feeds the livewell fine. I tried this from the same angle as the pump (bottom of the bilge) and it still fed the livewell fine. So, it does not appear to be a problem with the water line.

I tried alternating back and forth with the livewell pump and the dock water hose . . . it simply works with the water hose and does not with the pump. The water pump is the 800/1000 which is what came with the boat.

Somehow it seems that water is going backwards when I am trying to fill the livewell with the livewell pump. Is there some sort of backflow preventer within the shurflo pump housing that is shot?

Any ideas? I am trying to fish this weekend with live bait so this is a problem. Any help or suggestions is appreciated. Thanks.

Yes, I replaced the impellar because I thought that was the problem. A few hours old.

I got it working. It is a dual port pump and for some reason, one port is apparently pushing more water out. I reversed the ports between the washdown pump and the livewell pump and now, both systems are working. ???

Now back to trying to catch some live bait.

Default Livewell pump

I had the same problem. I replaced the pump with a different brand and the pump was about 6" higher than the old one. I shortened the nipple going to the sea cock and it worked fine. It will not draw water it needs to push the water. Good luck, Danny C
