Default windlass out

have a 32 outrage, and the windlass went out. the remote at the anchor locker would let me put it down, but not up. the control at the helm will not do either. when i press the button at the helm, it makes a "click" noise that you can hear under the helm, sounds like coming from the "windlass control" box. any ideas for a fix before i call somebody???? thanks!

Have you tried Chuck Bennett at BW?

Most decent sized windlasses use a relay system called a control box to operate them, since they draw a lot of current. You'll probably find that your control box is sealed and not serviceable. If you could get into it, you'd find two relays; one for up and one for down. If the contacts on one of the relays fail, all you get is "click" in that direction. The generic West Marine control box or eBay equivalent should work.
