Default Buying an extended warranty for used outboards

Has anyone done this? My warranty runs out this year and I'm thinking of checking and seeing if I can buy some extra warranty. Suzuki Marine's website doesn't show any mention of this being a possibility and there's no good contact form. I'd appreciate any info and /or experience with this . Thx......David

I was told by a dealer, that the only extended warrenty worth a dam is one given by the manufacturer of the specific brand you use, aftermarket warranty suck, chances are the dealer knows about extended warranty, and the manufacturer stays out of it, check with the firm you bought your motor from, if these guys are smart, they will do everything in there power to keep you happy, nothing better than brand loyalty.
and if your Suzuki is anything like mine....you'll never need a warranty....

Thx for info Titan. I checked with my mechanic the other day and they told me that additional warranty cost would be $1100 per motor. I guess I won't be buying any additional warranty!

Do yourself a favor and shop around. I've owned 3 Yamaha cycles over the last 12 years. My last bike an FJR1300 the extended warranty from my local shop was $1457.00. I found a dealer in Texas that sold the same warranty for $639.00

Dave I would not hesitate getting a extended warranty on your motors If and only If it is a Suzuki factory backed warranty. I have heard some horror stories on after market warranties. If it is a aftermarket warranty you might be better served stashing away the $2200.00 in a account somewhere as a rainy day fund just in case something happens to one of your motors. I always try to keep a little fund put away that is for any repairs or non expected surprises on the boat....Mark

God no, my balls are not that big. I've been close. 135 mph, that was at Pocono raceway, without the touring bags in place. That was plenty fast for me.

Hi Dave,
I run a Zuke 175 with another four years of warranty. We do not have mandated E10 down here but my warranty expressly voids any claims that are E10 related. Your warranty probably has a similar clause.
My Zuke service centre tells me that they get just about zero problems on motors that are serviced on schedule. They have done a fair bit of work on older boats with a new Zukes & that has been E10 related. Usual story...........older fuel tanks & lines that the E10 cleaned out. Owners were too lazy to use non E10 or were unaware of the potential problems. All to save 15 cents a gallon. Result - new injectors & pumps.
So the after market warranty may not cover E10 problems anyway. Keep the $$$$ in your pocket & fish on.

Same boat Dave, I'm leaning towards not buying the warranty on my motor this august. I'm gonna get my cowling replaced, in the last year it has started to fade and check pretty bad.
