Thumbs up New Anchor

G'Day all,
Put a new anchor on the boat today & thought it may be of interest.

This is referred to as a Mooloolaba Pick as they were originally designed there. It is used for deepwater work on reef or rubble bottom. Mine rides in a carpet lined anchor tube which keeps it secure & stops any noise.

The chain is shacked to the bottom of the anchor & is zip tied to the shaft. This allows the anchor to be pulled from the bottom by putting pressure on the rope & snapping the ties.

The pick is recovered by using an anchor ball. The SS ring slides down the anchor rope as the boat is driven forward at an angle & the ring eventually engages the pick on the bottom & floats it to the surface. There is a bit more to it than that though.
