Default Sea Vee's New 42

Here are some pictures of the new 42 Sea Vee presently under development by Sea Vee Boats from Florida. This will be a show stopper at the 2009 Miami Boat Show. The boat looks very impressive on paper and I can't wait to touch it in February. Thoughts....

Holy crap what a rig. My only suggestion (like they really care!) would be to raise the windshield up to just below the top. I don't care what you spend on curtains, once there is some dried salt on them they all suck to look through. I want to be looking through a glass windshield with high quality wipers and a fresh water wash on it.

Has anybody trolled on a boat with the IPS's? I'm curious how clean the wake is.

My thoughts: Why a 42' boat with outboards? The only times I wish my 23' inboard were anything but an inboard are when I'm putting it on the trailer and when I'm trying to get somewhere shallow. I doubt that a 42' express will be in either of those situations anytime soon...clogs up the transom and moves weight that could be centered and down low to a high and extreme aft position.

Feel free to tell me why my opinion is silly (perhaps 3 outboards somehow comes out to be more efficient than two diesels, which would certainly motivate me).

Good looking boat otherwise. I've ridden on an IPS boat, but didn't troll and honestly didn't pay much attention to the wake. The whole docking a forty-something foot boat in a forty something foot parallel slip was enough to keep my attention...

My thoughts are these....

You gotta be rich to afford it, specially with three V8's hanging off the back, PLUS the boat.

Promotes Seavee to the top of the game, in front of Grady with the 336, Pursuit, Regulator, Fountain, CC, Albe and the rest that make medium sized sportfishes.

The outboards are simple to repower. No chopping up decks, etc. They also allow so much more room when you don't have a dedicated below decks engine bay and Lazarette to house the rudders, IPS or not.

It will definitely work with them, and we all offshore fish around sterndrives, or outboards with either a bracket or euro transom.

Way to go Seavee. Wonder what Grady and the others are thinking of? Where's Yellowfin?

And WHERE'S THE TOWER? Gotta love the side door.

I thought Yellowfin already had something like this they made for the boys in the northeast for their canyon runs? I really like this seevee. The boat is very well laid out. I especially like the way the helm is laid out with plenty of room for people to sit there close to the helm. Real good looking boat IMO. But, like Chris said, you gotta be rich....

Yellowfin has a 42 with 2 smaller cabin options but nothing the size of this Sea Vee. The Yellowfin is more of a day boat / one night boat.

In terms of IPS or outboards it would be a difficult choice for me. The IPS will come in a good $50k more I'd assume.
