Had a kinda unique situation tonight that I thought I'd share with the TBR crew....
I have an 06 Zuki DF225 four stroke with about 150 hours on it. Bolted to a Seapro 235CC.
My co-worker called me tonight at 530pm as I was getting off work and said he was out in the sound and needed a tow, motor was seized.
Got a guy lined up and we drove to the dock, launched the boat and we're motoring out past the no wake zone, when I look back to see if we're clear and I can hammer down, and I see a huge amount of water gushing out of the rear of my motor, not the pee stream.
UH OH. Throttle to neutral, and sure enough, I've lost my flushing port plug, or I misplaced it when last flushing the motor. Bad.
I idled back to the dock and shut her off, then ran back home, 10 minute drive, only to not find the plug in the usual places I lose all important items.
Call my neighbor who has a df140, thinking I can steal his plug for the time being, no luck, Zuki engineered them differently for the 1-4's and v-6's. Thank you Suzuki, not

.
Back to the dock because the sun is going down and I shove a rag in the port with the screwdriver, just to keep the water pressure up as much as possible.
Ran about 5 miles WOT to the boat, lost the rag in the meantime, had a constant pee stream. Motor never overheated. We were in a time constraint due to it being dark and having to tow through a very shallow (1-2 ft deep) channel in the dark.
Motor never overheated, BTW, even at WOT. I gotta change the Impeller anyways, so I'm not too worried.
But, all you Suzuki guys, make a note and order a second flushing plug to keep on the boat just in case one rattles out when you're 35 miles from the hill. I'll call Brown's Point when I get back from Mexico and get a part number.
BTW, I had taken the duck tape off the boat for some reason, but it would have come in handy tonight, I could have duck taped the rag into the port, effectively sealing it up.
