Make sure you get a battery with the correct specs for the HPDI you need a battery. I beleive that most group 27 AGMs will do the trick. Check out the battery specs for your motor before you buy your battry...Mark

Thanks offshore

The battery thats in their now is from yamaha as they own skeeter and all the boats come pre-rigged from the factory so i assume that its correct. Ill bring my old battery with me for the core and make sure i get one with larger capacity. The one thing that i hate about my boat is the location of the cranking battery. Its burried under the rear casing deck with a built in group 24 holder. I take it out every winter and its a bear to move and barely fits. I wish a group 27 would fit but its impossible. I am going to get the sears die hard platinum marine 880 cca with a 135 rc and 3 year unlimited warranty. Its a buck 89. Not the cheapest but i have read a lot about that agm's and know they are good.

About the quality of the plugs, they are ngk gapless (not champion) and the exact model number that yamaha specs on my motor.

I hear yah; when I was talking about my bad experience with the Champion plugs, sure as the sun comes up every morning they ALL had the same plug number on the plug. I'm a pretty smart guy, but there is no way I would ever be able to tell the difference if I had a grade one and a grade six plug in my hands....not by looking at them. The different grades must be determined in the factory as to how the plug performs in their final QA testing. The grade one plug was around $3.50 apiece and the cheap ones (grade six I later found out) was about $1.40.

For that price you must have an older efi or carb motor. Used to cost me $17 dollars to change the plugs on my yam 200 0x66. Dfi and 4s plugs cost more as i think mine were about $9-$10 bucks each.

There is not a motor made that the Sears agm will not satisfy - approved by merc for the verado which needs far more power then any other engine offered today...so you'll definitely be good to go...it's a repackaged Odyssey - the best there is for this application....

but remember, AGM's last a lot longer when you can keep them topped off when in storage with a 3 stage intelligent charger....

Excellent! I like results! Glad it wasn't something else, a new battery is cheap in today's boating world.

Glad you got it fixed... I had a similar issue, it was a wore out primer bulb. The engine lost its fuel at idle due to the bad bulb not holding the fuel.
