Purchased My Overwidth Permit Today

Well, I elected to buy the single trip permit. I'm towing to Hatteras this week and I'll leave my boat there through the fall.

That $12 permit quickly turned into $22. $5 fax fee and another $5 credit card fee. Can you imagine any ordinary business charging customers like that!!!

Anyway, I told the lady at the permit office I would buy another permit to bring my boat back in the fall but I'm hoping for the laws to be changed by then. Her reply... " that isn't likely".

Of course, I had to give them an exact route from start to finish. I have to purchase the flags too. Just what I need, a red flag going down the highway. What a crock!!

Just wait for the poor guy who is trailering through NC and doesn't know the laws!! Gets hit with a ticket. That will really piss some people off!!

I wonder if this law will be similar to the way they worked the fishing license law 2 years ago. I wonder if they will give you a break if you just "didn't know."

Just one more expense to throw into the joys of boat ownership!!!
