Default More fun with shipping boats

I finally got the Venture 34 re-rigged and on its way to Maui. It should arrive on Monday April 4th. Hopefully it will be intact and undamaged.

I had reservations to fly over, pick it up and head for the dock. But those reservations were on Aloha Airlines, which went broke last week. AARRGGGHHHH!

So, undaunted, I moved them to ATA, which then went broke yesterday. Is it just me?

Now I can't get there to get it off the ship without paying a stupid price for taking a flight that goes from Los Angeles to Salt Lake City and then to Maui!

Kerno, you scared me when I read this headline for this thread. I opened this fully expecting to see more pics of a boat damaged in transit! Very glad that's not the case. It always seems to me when you're really ready for something to happen, it always takes forever with Mr. Murphy taking full advantage of the situation. Hopefully, everything will turn out better with this boat tyhan the last one! Good Luck....David

Maui has an average of 30,000 people arriving and leaving each day. There had been 4 airlines serving the island and now there are two that fly direct. Others can route passengers through Honolulu, 225 miles away by air, but the bottom line is that there are currently about 50,000 people stuck on Maui with useless tickets.

In the time I was on the computer this morning, prices were going up by the moment. I am now scheduled to fly on 4/22, a mere 15 days after the boat gets there.

Keno, can you send me some info on the shipper that was able to take you boat over to Maui. I'm looking to have mine shipped to Asia in a few years. Good luck with the boat in Maui. Great fishing area my wife wants to move there in the worse way.

I will have my son pick the boat up for me. He did not want to do it because he said "Every time I go to pick up something of yours it is wrecked." I don't know why he says that. It wasn't every time - it was only three times out of four.

Robbie: I used Pasha Hawaii who ships out of San Diego to the islands. But they only go as far as Hawaii.

Scared me too Kern. Sounds like a fun situation at your local airports!

We used Dockwise Yacht Transport, Boat Transport when shipping to South America and the East coast.
