Glen: The Inertias are supposed to be thinner and more efficient. I know if you say they won't work, they won't work. What's the problem with 'em?

I was amazed at how the Tempest 19's put the hurt on the Rev 4 19's. They just outran 'em everywhere. Breaking it down by miles per gallon says the Tempest 19's may be the best for long runs where fuel is more important than speed. I did this fairy quickly, so check my numbers, OK?

Here's the way I see the fuel numbers:
4000 4250 5000
250's with Tempest 19's 1.94 mpg 1.76 mpg 1.36 mpg
250's with Rev 4 17's 1.72 mpg 1.66 mpg 1.32 mpg

300's with Tempest 19's 1.85 mpg 1.60 mpg 1.41 mpg
300's with Tempest 21's 1.76 mpg 1.38 mpg 1.38 mpg
300's with Rev 4 19's 1.67 mpg 1.53 mpg 1.27 mpg

If oil hits $100 a barril this year, merc says they going to introduce their Nuclear Verados.

You heard it here first.

I did make an error in the numbers when I listed them. There's a 1.38 that should be 1.60. It is the the third number in the 300's with the Tempest 21's.

I had it nicely set up in a table, but it did not post that way, so I've added dashes to keep it separated.

Here's the way I see the fuel numbers:
-------------Engine rpms-------4000------- 4250------ 5000
250's with Tempest 19's ------1.94 mpg----1.76 mpg---1.36 mpg
250's with Rev 4 17's----------1.72 mpg----1.66 mpg---1.32 mpg

300's with Tempest 19's-------1.85 mpg ---1.69 mpg---1.41 mpg
300's with Tempest 21's-------1.76 mpg----1.60 mpg---1.38 mpg
300's with Rev 4 19's----------1.67 mpg----1.53 mpg---1.27 mpg

From best to worst in all areas, the delta is about 12 percent. In my world, I'd be running the Tempest 19's. They delivered the best fuel numbers on both the 250's and the 300's

This is how the Tempest compared to other Merc props on my Contender 25. I am running a pair of tweaked Mirage 19's on smooth days and a pair of Rev4 19's on the rough days. It'd be neat to try the Tempests again.

The Mirages look like the fuel winners on your Contender. What is "tweaked"?
